Man sentenced for assaulting female roommate.

HART – A 29-year-old Hart man was sentenced to five months in jail for a conviction of assault by strangulation in 27th Circuit Court Monday, May 13.

Joel Romero-Herrera, of 60 N. 88th Ave., Hart, pleaded “no contest” to the charge. He assaulted his female roommate who is not his girlfriend, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. The victim was also his co-worker, Bizon said. No injury was sustained, he said.

Romero-Herrera received credit for 167 days served in jail.
