Oceana entrepreneurs invited to competition.

FREMONT – Residents from Oceana, Newaygo and Lake counties are invited to an entrepreneurial pitch competition, May 8, with a chance to win cash prizes.

Pitch North will provide a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges with a chance at winning over $9,000 in cash and prizes.

“Entrepreneurship is critical to the success of rural communities,” states a Pitch North press release. “When people start and grow businesses, they contribute to the economic diversity of their area. These unique local businesses become what differentiates a particular place. All age groups turn to entrepreneurship, from baby boomers looking to supplement retirement or millennials looking for an option outside the traditional 9-5.

“Participating in a pitch competition forces an entrepreneur to take a deeper dive into their business model and explain their product or service in a passionate and concise manner. Whether the idea is a Fly Fishing Guide service on the Muskegon River, a niche restaurant in Baldwin, or a Yoga Studio in New Era, it has the potential of positively impacting the community of over 84,000 people who live in the rural counties of Oceana, Newaygo and Lake.

“If you’d like to enter your idea, act fast. Pitch submissions are accepted through April 10 at 11:59 pm. A review committee will score submissions, and five finalists will be chosen to present their pitches live May 8. Prizes will be given out to the top three finalists.”
