CLAYBANKS TOWNSHIP – Authorities continue to investigate a burglary that occurred last November resulting in the theft of 35 guns from locked gun safes on South 56th Avenue near Winston Road, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The guns, valued at a $13,000, were located inside a gun room in a residential pole barn. The victim is a gun collector and had some “high value” guns, including several pistols, that were stolen, Mast said. The burglary was reported Nov. 24.

“Mason County had some possible leads,” Mast said, “but they were not consistent with the missing guns in Oceana County.”

If anyone has any information regarding the burglary, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 231-873-2121.
