SHELBY — The Village of Shelby Council will be hosting a public hearing to seek input from residents regarding the proposed revision to the village’s parks and recreation plan 2015-2020.

The revision to the plan is related to recent improvements being considered for upgrading Getty Park. The plan’s proposed revision was created because some of the park improvements being considered were not included in the original plan for Getty Park, Village Administrator Robert Widigan said. A possible funding source for the project could come from the grant programs administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, he added. For grant applications to be considered for funding the applicant must have a current and approved recreation plan on file with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The Village Council will host the public hearing as part of the council’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, December 10, 2018, 6:30 p.m. at the Village Hall, 218 N. Michigan Avenue.

Residents can view the current plan and the proposed revision at the Village Hall and Shelby Area District Library, during regular business hours as well as Shelby’s webpage, www.shelbyvillage.com/village-parks.

If residents are unable to this public hearing, written comments can be mailed to Robert Widigan, Village Administrator, 218 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, MI. 49455.
