Women Who Care gear up for more giving Dec. 4.

#WomenWhoCareofOceanaCounty

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP – The Women Who Care of Oceana County will meet Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Open Hearth Grill in Mears.

Since the group’s first meeting in June of 2012, the total giving by members is $310,700.

“We put over $60,000 per year into our community,” said Amy LaBarge, one of the founding members. “Our membership now stands at 157, and guests are always welcome to attend a meeting. They can’t vote, unless they decide to join, but they can watch what we do with no obligation to join. Six guests joined after last September’s meeting.”

On the first Tuesday of March, June, September and December, the women meet for one hour. They learn about three worthy causes serving Oceana residents from fellow members who nominate them. Then the attendees vote on their favorite, and each member writes a $100 personal check to the nonprofit getting the most votes. Socializing after the meeting follows for those who have time to stay. Those who are unable to attend the meeting agree to write a $100 check payable to the nonprofit selected by the group.
