UPDATE: THE ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 P.M. SUNDAY TO 1 P.M. MONDAY.

Winter weather advisory issued for Oceana County.

OCEANA COUNTY – A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service beginning Sunday, Nov. 25, at 4 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m.

Several counties, including Oceana County, could experience snow accumulations of over 6 inches and winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Other counties includes in the advisory are Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia and Allegan.

The advisory was issued shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24.

Snow accumulations of 3-5 inches are expected with over 6 inches possible.

“Expect significant impacts for Monday morning’s commute including slippery roads and lowered visibilities,” states NWS. Snow removal may be difficult due to the wet and slushy nature of the snow.

“A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
