SHELBY – The Planning Commission for the Village of Shelby will host a public hearing Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the village hall to seek residents’ input regarding the proposed revision to the village’s 2015-2020 parks and recreation plan.

“The revision to the plan is related to recent improvements being considered for upgrading Getty Park,” said Village Administrator Robert Widigan. “The plan’s proposed revision was created because some of the park improvements being considered were not included in the original plan for Getty Park. A possible funding source for the project could come from the grant programs administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. For grant applications to be considered for funding, the applicant must have a current and approved recreation plan on file with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.”

The public hearing will be held as part of the planning commission’s regular monthly meeting.

Residents can view the current 2015-2020 parks and recreation plan and the proposed amendment to the plan at the Shelby Area Public Library, the village hall and on the village’s webpage, www.shelbyvillage.com/village-parks/.

If residents are unable to attend the hearing, written comments can be mailed to Robert Widigan, Village Administrator, 218 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, MI. 49455.
