Fountain Hill offering free parenting workshops.

NEW ERA — The Fountain Hill Center for Counseling and Consultation’s Lakeshore Office is offering free parenting workshops beginning this week, which include:

– Creating Positive Boundaries with Kids
Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 5:30–8 p.m., New Era Elementary, 2752 Hillcrest Dr., New Era.
“We create boundaries every day. Usually with negative results. This workshop explores how to create boundaries that provide positive experiences for children and caregivers alike. A light meal will be provided. Registration is required.”

– My Kids are Addicted to Screens. Yikes! So am I
Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 5:30–8 p.m., New Era Elementary, 2752 Hillcrest Dr., New Era.
“Kids…Screens…Media…Games…Internet. When you mix all those things together, it’s a recipe for real problems. And, grown-ups are part of it, too! This workshop explores how today’s technology is impacting families in unhealthy ways and gives suggestions on how to create healthy interactions with screens and all that comes with it. A light meal will be provided. Registration is required.”

Positive Parenting Basics I and II
Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sept. 29; 8 a.m. to noon, Trinity Lutheran Church, 5631 W. Stony Lake Rd., New Era.
“Positive discipline is a behavior management program that allows parents to engage their children in positive, problem-solving, empowering ways. During these two four-hour workshops, parents will learn how to discover their strengths, foster meaningful communication, and create ‘win-win’ scenarios for their children and themselves.”

Each of these workshops is being facilitated by certified parenting educator and Fountain Hill Center therapist Kimber Decker, MA, LLPC, NCC.

The Fountain Hill Center is partnering with the Children’s Trust Fund of Michigan – Oceana County to provide these classes and workshops to Oceana County residents free of charge. They are open to parents, grandparents, foster parents and other caregivers of children aged 0-18. Those interested in registering may do so by calling The Fountain Hill Center at (616) 456-1178.
