Voters approve council on aging millage, re-elect Gustafson.

HART — Voters overwhelmingly passed an operational millage request from the Oceana County Council on Aging during the primary election Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The proposal for a six-year millage of 1 mill through 2023 passed 3,242 to 1,639.

Oceana County Commissioner Dean Gustafson retained his seat on the Oceana County Board of Commissioners by defeating challenger Terry Dykema 353-252. Gustafson covers District 1, which includes Pentwater, Weare and Crystal townships.

The Hesperia library millage was also approved by voters 408-208.

The results from the Oceana County Clerk’s Office are “unofficial” until they have been approved by the Oceana County Board of Canvassers.

Election results on the county’s website were not available as of 7 a.m. Wednesday due to the clerk’s office transferring to a new computer system.
