FERRY TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Muskegon woman was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby after she injured her foot with a broadhead arrow from her crossbow Friday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 a.m. near East Baseline Road, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The accident occurred when the woman was walking out into the woods to go deer hunting. The arrow hit the top of her foot, Mast said.

“An arrow fell from her quiver, injuring her foot,” Mast said.

“A quiver worked itself out from walking through brush and fell to the ground,” stated the girl’s grandmother, Gina Jarvis, in a Facebook message to OCP. “When she went to walk over a fallen tree, the top of her foot caught the arrow and it went into her boot and foot.”
