NEWAYGO COUNTY — A 29-year-old Fremont man is accused of mutilating another man’s body, and then dumping the body parts in the woods in Oceana and Newaygo counties.

Anthony Shawn Blamer, Jr. was arraigned Tuesday, Aug. 8, in 78th District Court in White Cloud on charges of disinterment and mutilation of a dead body and concealing the death of an individual, according to Newaygo County Prosecutor Ellsworth Stay, Jr. Blamer is also charged as a second-offense habitual offender.

The victim is D’Anthony Keenan, 24, of Muskegon.

Blamer is lodged in the Newaygo County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Police discovered Keenan’s remains Saturday, Aug. 5, at approximately 6 p.m. in a wooded area of the Crystal Trails area between 20th and 28th streets in Sherman Township, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.

Body parts of the victim were also found in Oceana County, stated Newaygo County Sheriff Bob Mendham. “They were left off a dirt road northwest of 48th Street and Maple Island (Road),” Mendham said. Maple Island Road runs along the Oceana and Newaygo County line near Hesperia.

Detectives seek help from people who have trail cameras in the Crystal Trails area. They are looking for footage between Friday, Aug. 4, and Saturday, Aug. 5.

A probable cause conference for Blamer is set for Thursday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m.

“Mr. Blamer is presumed innocent until proven guilty,” states a press release from the prosecutor’s office.
