EDEN TOWNSHIP — A 46-year-old Hart man was arrested by troopers from Michigan State Police Hart Post Saturday night after the vehicle he was involved in a single vehicle crash at the corner of Eden Lake and Sippy roads in southeastern Mason County. The man was driving a Ford Explorer pickup truck south on Eden Lake Road and apparently failed to turn east onto Sippy Road where Eden Lake Road ends. The pickup truck left the roadway, went into a ditch and collided with several trees, trapping the 26-year-old female passenger.

This story has been updated. The initial story stated the driver was 39-years-old. MCP was informed that he allegedly provided false information to police.

Firefighters/rescue personnel used a winch connected to the Custer Fire Department rescue vehicle to pull the truck away from the trees. Riverton Township Fire Department, Ludington Fire Department, Life EMS ambulance, and Mason County Sheriff’s Office personnel, also assisted on the scene.

The driver was expected to be charged with driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs and driving with a suspended license — second offense. He was transported to Mason County Jail. The passenger was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.
