County broadband group seeks input.

#OceanaCountyNews

HART – The Oceana County Broadband Committee has partnered with Connected Nation’s community engagement program, “Connected,” to come up with a plan to improve access to high speed Internet in the county.

The initial step toward developing a comprehensive, county-oriented plan will consist of a short survey for agriculture producers, business organizations and owners, healthcare facilities, schools, and residents.

“Oceana County has huge gaps in broadband connectivity. This survey will pinpoint those areas and enable the county to show providers the need of the people and businesses in our county,” said Anne L. Hardy, executive director of the Oceana County Economic Development Corporation.

Participation in the online survey, http://www.connectmycommunity.org/oceana-county, will take about 10 minutes and will help the committee to better understand the status of high-speed broadband Internet access, adoption, and use in Oceana County. After a structured evaluation of this assessment, the Oceana County Broadband Committee and Connected staff will develop a Technology Action Plan focused on effectively and efficiently improving Oceana County’s broadband environment.

“Getting everyone’s input – from parents to educators to businesses to the agricultural community – is key in helping us develop a Technology Action Plan that meets the unique needs of Oceana County,” said Tom Stephenson, community technology advisory for Connected Nation’s community engagement program. “The more input we get, the more likely we are able to identify ways to create broadband access, adoption, and use to ensure that no one in Oceana County is left out.”
