UPDATE: Police release crash victim’s name

GRANT TWP. — The victim of this morning’s fatal crash on West Webster Road near 64th Avenue is a 55-year-old Jerry Wigren of Shelby, according to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.

Wigren was driving eastbound in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee when the accident occurred, according to OCSO.

Deputies were dispatched to the single car accident Thursday, Oct. 8, at 5:50 a.m., according to a press release from the sheriff’s office issued shortly after 7 a.m.

“Deputies found the single occupant of the vehicle had been ejected and had suffered serious injuries,” the press release states. Wigren was transported from the scene by Oceana EMS and later died from his injuries.
