HART — Heroin and fentanyl are listed in 78th District court records as the drugs that caused the death of Annette Conkle, 46, of Hart, in regard to the charges that a 24-year-old Hart man is facing.

Foster Lewis Mudget was arraigned in 78th District Court Wednesday, June 10, on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance causing death, according to a press release issued by the State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT).

Mudget, who is currently in a Michigan Department of Corrections prison on an unrelated conviction, faces life in prison for each charge.

The charges stem from Conkle’s death last fall “who had overdosed and ultimately died as a result of the overdose,” the press release states.

According to the Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS), Mudget is lodged in the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson County, serving a 13-month to five-year sentence for an organized retail crime act violation conviction in Muskegon County. His earliest release date is April 18, 2016, according to OTIS. He was sentenced April 21, 2015.

Mudget had also served a one-and-a-half year sentence in 2010 and 2011 for an attempted uttering publishing conviction in Oceana County, according to OTIS.

“SSCENT detectives and members of the Hart City Police Department initiated an investigation into the death,” SSCENT states. “Ultimately, the case was submitted to the Oceana County Prosecutor for review. The charges are a result of the cooperative effort between SSCENT and the Hart City Police Department.”
