School crossing guard struck in hit-and-run

HART — A female crossing guard who was standing in the crosswalk Friday the 13th on Johnson Street in front of the Spitler Elementary School was struck by a black SUV that left the scene.

The woman was “bumped into” by the fleeing vehicle and was not injured, Hart Police Chief Dan Leimback said. The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. when children were being dismissed from school for the day. The crossing guard was holding up her stop sign to alert motorists to stop when she was struck, he said. No children were hurt.
