Outdoors show to bring speakers, vendors to local enthusiasts.

MANISTEE TWP. (Manistee Co.) — A passion for the outdoors by two hunting partners has turned an event that they are hoping will become to premier outdoors show. Curtis Smith and Jimmy Stankowski said they wanted to help others develop their own successful hunting experiences. Last year they put together their first sports show. This year, the Michigan Sports Show will be held Feb. 20-22 at Little River Casino and Resort.

Tickets, available the days of the show, are $10 per adult, $6 for kids 8- to 12-years-old and free for kids 7 and under. On Sunday, Feb. 22, kids ages 12 and under get get in for free.

The show will give enthusiasts access to a variety of hunting and fishing outfitters, manufacturers, materials and experts.

The show will feature a variety of speakers.

Mark Martin, a world renowned walleye fisherman, who will be giving seminars on fishing local lakes such as Hamlin Lake and Portage Lake. More information on Mark at www.markmartins.net/about

Nick Percy will be talking about educating individuals who have a passion for whitetail deer and the outdoors. He will talk about how to improve the deer habitat and achieve individual goals for hunters’ property in order to reap what has been sowed. He will also discuss how to transform any size property into premier whitetail habitat by implementing solid land management principles and focused efforts. His website is www.killerfoodplots.com

Joe Lathrop is a wildlife artist and storyteller famous for his camp fire stories. Joe’s art work will be on display. For more information check out his website at www.joelathrop.com.

Among the many door prizes that will be given away, the grand prize will be a stay at Sunset Pines Resort in the Upper Peninsula, which includes a cabin with boat for a week.

The show will also feature Commemorative Bucks of Michigan, which will be at the show on Saturday to score racks. Also featured will be Benzie Joe who makes handmade fish decoys will be giving away a hand carved and painted fish decoy.

Some of the show’s proceeds will be donated to Tight Lines for Troops.
