SHELBY — Local duo, Corey Parmalee and Shawn Pranger, won the 2014 Joe Foster Open at Oceana Golf Club last weekend, competing against 88 two-man teams.

Perfect conditions Saturday were followed by tougher weather Sunday due to the 20-plus mph winds. Parmalee and Pranger shot 66-70-136 to tie for first and ultimately win the championship in a playoff after one hole.  Runners-up were 2012 champions Mike Buckner and Scott Volkmann, who fired 67-69-136.

First day leaders, Mike Schramm and Chris Griffin, started hot Saturday, shooting –7 on their first nine holes and finished the round at –8 (65). Sunday, they finished with –1 (72) for a two-day total of 137 — good for third place. Winning the first flight were Nic Morano and Joe Sherburn with a 74-70-144. Second flight winners were the father/son team of Dan and Nathan Daugherty, firing 77-73-150. Third flight winners were Donnie Anderson and Norm Talmadge with 80-75-155, and fourth flight winners were Jeff Anderson and Dan Durga with  83-78-161.
