Four other Oceana County actors are in the musical: Jaime Pepple of New Era, Dragon; Hart Public Schools music teacher Nicole Ball, Gingerbread Man/Sugar Plum Fairy; Carlos Ortega of Hart, Felonious; and Sarah McCully of Hart, Dulocian.

Directed by Rick Plummer, West Shore Community College and the Manistee Civic Players are teaming up, once again, to produce another blockbuster. “SHREK: the Musical,” based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage.

The plot of the stage musical follows the animated film. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre, not a handsome prince, shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is SHREK.

Full of all-new songs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, “SHREK: the Musical” is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone.

Performance times: Friday, June 27, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 28, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, June 29, 2 p.m.;Thursday, July 3, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 5, 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, July 6, 2 p.m.
