Storm possible today, area under weather advisory

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a significant weather advisory for the area. At 9:33 a.m. radar indicated strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Hesperia to Belding to St. Johns to Williamston, moving northeast at 30 mph.

Frequent dangerous cloud to ground lightning and brief heavy downpours are likely with these storms.

Today’s weather, Monday, May 12, 2014. Scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few storms may be severe. High 74 F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Sunrise: 6:22 a.m. Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm in the morning, then some lingering showers still possible in the afternoon. High 61 F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70%.
